Jesus Christ Superstar

Just don’t say I’m damned for all time.

Been dying to see this show as a conscious person for years! I first saw this professionally when I was six and I have ZERO memory of it.

I really wish this cast had a better venue than Hamilton Place. It’s a weird venue to stage this kind of production because the sets are large. I feel like you could tell the actors weren’t quite familiar with the space and didn’t utilize the stage the best. Overall, the singing was amazing. A show has done it’s job if I have full body chills listening to the actors sing. Hearing “Gethsemane” and “Superstar” live was life changing.

FROM THE AUDIENCE: Old lady behind me was loudly complaining when it finished that this musical was a lot more “traditional” when she saw it in the 70’s. Would love to know exactly what about a rock opera told from the perspective of the antagonist is traditional?

FUN FACT: Lyricist Tim Rice and Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber were only 17 and 20 (respectively) when they composed the music for this show.
