Shrek the Musical

I know it’s today.

Shrek the Musical

⭐️⭐️

CLOSED: August 6 to August 18, 2024.

Despite the mediocre review, I did have a good time at this show. However, since me and my sisters appear to be Shrek the Musical’s biggest fans, the changes in the touring production really hurt my heart. A lot of our favourite songs have been cut and the show has been scaled down I think both for tour purposes and to appeal more to kids.

The performances were very strong from the leads- Shrek (Nicholas Hambruch), Fiona (u/s Kelly Prendergast who appears to have now taken over the role for the remainder of the tour), Farquad (Timmy Lewis) and Donkey (Naphtali Yaakov Curry) were all standout.

“Who I’d Be” is such an underrated Act I Finale (and you can FIGHT me on that). I hope there’s a Shrek Revival so my sisters and I can experience it in all its glory.

FUN FACT: I can recite the entirety of Shrek (2001).

TICKET TIP: I got tickets for this show 50% off after Mirvish advertised a deal in their newsletter. It’s worth signing up for the deals alone!
